Most bathroom heaters are just blowing warm air around. It feels nice for a second, but it doesn’t actually solve the problem. See, in a steamy bathroom, the real enemy is that thin film of water clinging to your walls and ceiling. That’s where mold loves to hang out. To stop it, you can’t just warm the air—you have to target the water itself. That’s where our infrared (IR) tech comes in.
How it actually works
Instead of just heating the room, these lamps send out specific waves that soak right into your tiles and paint. Think of it like this: the IR waves hit those damp surfaces and get the water molecules moving fast. This makes the water evaporate way quicker than it would on its own. It’s a quiet, passive way to dry things out. By keeping your walls warmer than the “dew point,” the condensation never even gets a chance to form. No standing water, no mold. Simple as that.
The tricky parts
Getting a waterproof rating is the easy part. The real headache is “thermal shock”—that sudden jump from a cold room to blistering heat. We use quartz envelopes to handle that stress so the bulbs don’t just pop. But here’s the thing:you still need a good exhaust fan. The IR lamp is great at pulling water off your walls, but that moisture is still in the room—it’s just turned into vapor. If you don’t have a fan to pull that air out, you’ve basically just moved the water from your tiles into the air.
A few tips for the setup
We specifically tuned these to the short and medium-wave spectrums because that’s what water absorbs best. It’s why these dry a room out so much faster than those old-school convection heaters. Installing them is pretty easy, but I’d suggest giving them their own dedicated circuit. These lamps pull a lot of power when they first kick on. And please, use a moisture-rated switch. It’s a small detail, but it keeps everything safe when the room is full of steam.
