Most people think of bathroom infrared lamps as just another way to stop the shivers after a shower. But we look at them differently. Instead of just pumping heat into the room, we use the light spectrum to go after the real enemy: moisture and mold.
Dealing with the Damp
Here’s the thing about standard space heaters. They warm up the air, but your tiles stay cold. That’s how you get condensation, and once you have damp tiles, mold finds a place to call home. Our lamps use shortwave radiation. It doesn’t mess around with the air; it goes straight for the walls and ceilings. When those waves hit a damp spot, they shake up the water molecules and turn that liquid into vapor. It basically pushes the humidity right out of the walls. The result? A dry surface where mold can’t get a grip.
Getting the Heat Just Right
We’ve tuned the wavelength to specifically target water. This means the energy spends its time drying things out rather than turning your bathroom into a sauna. But you have to get the power right. If you put a high-wattage lamp in a tiny shower stall, you’re going to feel like you’re being baked. On the flip side, if the wattage is too low, it won’t have enough kick to pull moisture out of porous grout. We usually set these up for a “flash-dry” effect—hitting the area hard right after you step out of the shower.
A Few Heads-Ups on Installation
These lamps usually slide right into your existing fixtures, but don’t just plug and play without checking your electrics. High-wattage quartz tubes pull a lot of power. If your wiring isn’t up to the task, you’ll be tripping your breakers every time you turn the heat on. And please, double-check your seals. If steam leaks into the socket, it’ll fry the contacts in a couple of weeks. Keep it tight, keep it dry, and it’ll last.
