Stopping the Leaks

Most of these heaters use shortwave infrared lamps. They’re great because they hit the glass fast and clear that fog in seconds. But there’s a catch: things grow when they get hot. If the lamp expands and has nowhere to go, it could crack your mirror or snap a wire. That’s why we use flexible connectors. It gives the system some breathing room. Also, watch your wattage. If you cram too much power into a small space, you’ll cook the silvering on the back of the mirror. You’ll end up with permanent dark spots that no amount of scrubbing will fix.
The Real-World Stuff
Here is the thing: it doesn’t matter how fancy the lamp is if the wiring is a mess. You’ve got to use IP65-rated junction boxes for every single connection. A loose wire nut in a steamy bathroom is a recipe for a fire. And please, ground the whole chassis. That way, if a component does fail, the breaker trips immediately and everyone stays safe. It’s a small step that makes a massive difference.
